About

I am a Librarian at IUPUI University Library where I am Senior Associate Dean for Scholarly Communication & Content Strategies. My portfolio as Senior Associate Dean includes acquisitions, cataloging and metadata creation, resource sharing, library shipping, special collections & archives, digital collections, and scholarly communication. I joined University Library in 2006 as the Visiting Interlibrary Loan Librarian and led the library’s resource sharing efforts for 12 years.

I currently hold a 25% appointment as the Visiting Program Officer for U.S. Repository Network, collaborating with SPARC and COAR to break down our institutional silos and foster increased collaboration among repositories in the U.S.

In 2018, I held a 20% appointment with the IUPUI Office of Academic Affairs as Director of Faculty Mentoring. In this role, I was responsible for the direction of the IUPUI Mentoring Academy, including oversight of the proposal funding process, planning and managing the annual Mentoring Symposium, and support of faculty mentoring at IUPUI.

I have been involved with shared collections since my time as Project Coordinator for the ALI-PALNI Shared Print Project. I managed communications between 36 academic libraries, the Academic Libraries of Indiana (ALI) Board, the Private Academic Libraries Network of Indiana (PALNI) Executive Director, and Sustainable Collection Services. I also drafted policies, served on and managed the Policy Group, and coordinated the digitization of rare, public domain materials from participating libraries. My work in this area has sparked an interest in the intersections of resource sharing and collection management. I initiated the creation of the Reference and User Services Association (RUSA) Shared Collections Interest Group and served as its co-leader for three years. I currently co-chair the Academic Libraries of Indiana Shared Collections Committee and serve on the Steering Committee of the national Partnership for Shared Book Collections.

My research has focused on the intersections of open access and interlibrary loan, and I have presented on this topic at state, regional, national, and international conferences. I served as the 2014/2015 Chair of ALA RUSA STARS, the American Library Association’s section devoted to resource sharing issues, and was named the 2016 Virginia Boucher-OCLC Distinguished Interlibrary Loan Librarian.
